36 Perdue Farms Facilities Recognized with National Poultry Safety Awards
Perdue Earns 8 Joint Industry Safety and Health Council Awards of Distinction, the most of any member company
August 21, 2025
Salisbury, Md. (August 21, 2025) — Perdue Farms is leading the way in workplace safety. This week, the Joint Industry Safety and Health Council recognized 36 Perdue facilities at its annual event in Destin, Florida.
Each year, the Council – which includes members from the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, National Chicken Council, and National Turkey Federation – awards its highest honor, the Award of Distinction, to facilities that demonstrate exceptional leadership in implementing innovative and effective workplace safety and health processes. Eight Perdue facilities received this honor, more than any other member company this year. Congratulations to:
- Forsyth Feed Mill (Georgia)
- Salisbury Hatchery #2 (Maryland)
- Milford Plant (Delaware)
- Salisbury Plant (Maryland)
- Perdue Innovation Center (Maryland)
- Ahoskie Growout (North Carolina)
- DELMARVA South Growout (Delaware)
- Perry Growout (Georgia)
To qualify, facilities must maintain key Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety metrics — Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART) — below the industry average for three consecutive years, with no severe injuries or fatalities. An independent panel also evaluates each facility’s written explanation of its safety programs and processes.
“It’s an honor for our facilities to be recognized in workplace safety,” said James Ferrell, Senior Director Safety & Security for Perdue Foods. “At Perdue, we have built a strong safety culture rooted in the belief that every associate must go home safe and healthy each day. We are proud of each team’s focus, commitment, and leadership that made these wins possible.”
Additional Awards:
- Awards of Honor: 18 Perdue operations received this award, the Council’s second highest honor. They include the Concord, Petaluma Poultry, Perry Cook, Cromwell, and Gainesville plants; the Kenly, Santa Rosa, Eagle Springs, Trion, Murfreesboro and Halifax Hatcheries, Hurlock Feed Mill, Candor Feed Mill, Candor Growout, DELMARVA North Growout, Dillon Growout, Brownsville Breeders, and Yadkinville Breeders.
