Perdue Foundation Provides $25,000 Grant To Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County in NC

February 12, 2019

Salisbury, Md. (February 12, 2019) — The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms, has awarded a $25,000 grant to support the Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County’s capital campaign to expand it facility and better serve the needs of more youth in the community.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County is extremely grateful for the support from the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation,” said Valerie Melton, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County. “Perdue Farms has been a great supporter of the Boys and Girls Club, as well as Cabarrus County.”

The Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County’s current Spring Street facility, constructed in 2001, has reached capacity and hundreds of children are turned away each year. This led to the decision to begin a capital campaign to raise $7 million to construct a 36,000 square foot addition to the current building. This will allow us to serve an additional 300 children each day, with up to 750 youth daily and more than 2,200 children attending annually. Perdue gift brings the total raised toward the campaign goal to $6,484,775.

“For many years, the Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County has been a vital educational and community partner in Concord and throughout the county,” said Tondra Hamilton, human resources manager at Perdue’s Concord plant. “We remain committed to making a difference in the community with partnerships like this. We are proud to continue our support so that area children, including those of our own associates, can benefit from the club’s programs.”
