Perdue Foundation Continues Support for Epoch Dream Center After-School Meal Program in Maryland
May 11, 2018
Salisbury. Md. (Friday, May 11, 2018) — The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation has continued its support of the Epoch Dream Center after-school program in Hebron, Md., with a $5,000 grant and a donation of chicken products for the 2017-2018 school year. The gifts help offset some of the costs associated with providing dinner after school to at-risk children in Wicomico County.
“We are so grateful for the ongoing support from Perdue and the Perdue Foundation,” said Erin Sheehan, administrative director of The Epoch Dream Center. “Their generous gifts of money and food helps bridge the hunger gap and helps provide a safe place for students between school and when parents return home from work.”
The Epoch Dream Center, established in 2013, is a free after-school program located in western Wicomico County that serves under-resourced children in kindergarten through eighth grade. The Center provides an after-school snack, academic support, physical activities, mentoring, character development and dinner to all students.
“The staff and volunteers at the Dream Center after-school program are doing a wonderful job of serving the needs of at-risk children by providing them homework help, mentors and an evening meal to assure they do not go home hungry,” said Kim Nechay, executive director of the Perdue Foundation. “We are happy to help them continue to fulfill their mission by providing them funds and protein to make these meals nutritious and delicious.”

We focus on continuously improving everything we do, constantly learning, and sharing those insights across different production methods. That innovative approach is driving change throughout the company and onto farms. This continuous advancement is leading us toward our vision of becoming the most trusted name in food and agricultural products.
The PERDUE® brand is the number-one brand of fresh chicken in the U.S., and Perdue AgriBusiness is an international agricultural products and services company. As we approach our 100th anniversary in 2020, our path forward is about getting better, not just bigger. We never use drugs for growth promotion in raising poultry and livestock, and we are actively advancing our animal welfare programs. Our brands are leaders in no-antibiotics-ever chicken, turkey and pork, and in USDA-certified organic chicken. We’ve increased our support for the family farm by creating new markets, including specialty crops. Through agricultural services, we give farmers more options for the acre, including conversion to organic production and products and services that increase the sustainability of conventional agriculture.
