SALISBURY, MD. (Wednesday, October 13, 2021) — Perdue Farms, through its Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, has awarded an $18,000 grant to Youth First in Evansville, Ind., to help fund school-based programs designed to improve and strengthen the lives of young people and their families. The donation from Perdue’s charitable giving arm is part of the company’s “Delivering Hope to Our Neighbors®” initiative focused on improving quality of life and building strong communities.
“We are the only organization that provides master’s-level social workers in Daviess County schools and prevention programs for youth and families,” said Julie Hoon, Youth First vice president of philanthropy. “We provide on-site, free-of-charge behavioral health services and programs to prevent substance abuse, improve family relationships, and develop life skills.”
The grant from the Perdue Foundation will help pay expenses such as information and technology, office supplies, mileage, printing, postage, program coordination, and program overhead. The funds will also support staff salaries and rent.
“Proof of our results can be witnessed through independent evaluations with measurable outcomes and by testimonials from those who have been touched by our programs,” Hoon said. “Those who engage with us will benefit by being part of a better, stronger, healthier community in which to live, work and raise a family. Youth First is grateful for the Perdue Foundation’s investment of time and consideration in our proposal for grant support.”
Kim Nechay, executive director of the Perdue Foundation, said: “In this post-shutdown era, mental health needs to be a focus – especially for our young people. We are proud to invest in Youth First’s programs to make sure no child in this area falls thought the cracks when it comes to mental health care.”
