Perdue Farms' Rockingham, N.C. associates pledge $43,037 to United Way

Rockingham, N.C. (January 15, 2013) – Associates at Perdue Farms’ processing plant in Rockingham, N.C., contributed $43,037 to the United Way of Richmond County. The associates’ pledge includes a $4,304 grant funded by the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving arm of the company.
United Way is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to maximize the community’s resources to improve the lives of all the members of the community. Through the combination of generous individual and business contributions, the United Way of Richmond County is able to fund agencies and programs in the areas of education, health and wellness, crisis services, and children and youth.
The Perdue campaign allows associates to use a simple payroll deduction process to individually contribute to the United Way. Associates contributing to the campaign received a “Live United” T-shirt.
“I am very proud of our Rockingham associates,” said Kendall Casey, director of operations. “Even during these difficult financial times, our associates found a way to contribute to the United Way.”
“There were 244 associates who donated their fair share,” said Jim Brown, Perdue plant human resources manager. “Our associates are very generous when it comes to giving and in many cases those that can least afford to give, give the most.”
