Perdue Farms' Thorntown associates present $2,727 To United Way of Central Indiana

Salisbury, Md. (February 26, 2013) — Associates from Perdue Farms’ breeder operation in Thorntown, Ind., recently presented a check for $2,727 in support of the United Way of Central Indiana in Boone County. The contribution included a $247 grant provided by the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms. Seventy-three Perdue associates are employed in Thorntown.
“We’re proud to have the support of partners like Perdue,” Christie Snyder, area director of the United Way of Central Indiana. “We’re committed to improving the lives of Boone County residents and every dollar pledged by Perdue employees in Thorntown will remain locally and help those people who need our help the most.”
Mike Maroney, manager of the Thorntown operation, said, “We are happy to be able to help the United Way of Central Indiana through the generosity of our associates’ contributions. I’m proud of their commitment to the community.”
The campaign allowed Perdue associates to use a simple payroll deduction process to individually support seven United Way partner agencies in Boone County, including the Lebanon Area Boys and Girls Club, Zionsville Boys and Girls Club, The Arc of Greater Boone County Rehabilitation Center, Boone County Senior Services, Boone County Cancer Society, Witham YMCA and Mental Health America. Associates’ pledges will help fund programs dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals to learn more, earn more and lead health and safe lives.
