Perdue Farms has committed a $20,000 Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation grant to help the Recovery Resource Center (RRC) — formerly known as the Salisbury Substance Abuse Community Center — in its mission to facilitate and support people on their journey to recovery from addiction.

“Unfortunately, addictions ravage every neighborhood and every social class. Organizations like the Recovery Resource Center are invaluable to our community,” said Kim Nechay, executive director of the Perdue Foundation. “As part of our commitment to improving the lives of those within the communities in which we live and work, we at Perdue are so glad that we can help assure their accessibility and operations to those in need of their services.”

Each week, the Center provides a safe haven and meeting place for approximately 1,000 people who participate in various 12-Step Recovery programs seeking recovery from alcoholism, drug addiction and any other chemical-use disorder.

“The generous support from Perdue allows us to increase the number of meetings we have and expand the support and fellowship that is so vitally important to recovery,” said Beth Ohlsson, executive director of the Recover Resource Center. “We have been able to create and distribute materials that announce to the community who we are and how we can help people recover from active addiction and maintain recovery. The end result is that people can, and do, recover from addiction.” 

There is no cost to any individual who seeks support from the Center’s 12-Step programs. “The bottom line is that what we offer to the community saves lives. We are most grateful for the role Perdue Farms plays in that equation,” said Ohlsson.
