February 5, 2018
Salisbury Md. (Monday, February 5, 2018) — Associates from Perdue Farms’ operation in Perry, Ga., recently presented a record $178,855 in support of the United Way of Central Georgia. The contribution included $162,597.94 in associate contributions and a $16,258 grant provided by The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms. Perdue employs more than 1,900 associates in Perry.
“I’m so proud of our associates and their extraordinary commitment to giving back in our communities in central Georgia,” said Craig Pugh, a director of operations at the company’s Perry complex. “We’re strong supporters of United Way because we believe it offers one of the best opportunities to maximize our charitable giving in the community.”
The Perdue campaign allowed associates to use a simple payroll deduction process to individually support United Way and its partner agencies in Houston and Peach counties.
“On behalf of our partner agencies, and the more than one hundred thousand people that will receive help throughout the next year, I want to thank the Perdue leadership team and their many associates for their generous support again this year,” said George McCanless, president and chief executive officer of United Way of Central Georgia. “While we have many challenges in our community to overcome, there are many strengths that we need to celebrate. Having companies like Perdue that care deeply about the quality of life for all people in our community is definitely something we want to recognize and celebrate.”
