Perdue Farms’ Petaluma Poultry Makes Donation To Support COTS’ Petaluma Kitchen Mission To Feed Those In Need
July 7, 2017
SALISBURY, MD. (Friday, July 7, 2017) — Our Petaluma Poultry, hometown producers of Rocky® The Free Range Chicken and Rosie® The Original Organic Chicken, presented Committee on the Shelterless (COTS) in Petaluma, Calif., with a check for $10,000 to help feed the city’s homeless and low-income families. The donation was funded through the company’s charitable giving arm, The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation.
“COTS’ Petaluma Kitchen provides much-needed nutrition to some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community,” said Matt Junkel, director of Petaluma Poultry operations. “The good work they do in helping so many in our community is commendable, and we’re thrilled to continue our support in their mission through this donation.”
COTS operates several facilities throughout Sonoma County, including in Petaluma, where it serves families, children and adults, providing life-saving shelter and transformative programs. Through the Petaluma Kitchen, where Petaluma Poultry associates regularly volunteer, COTS serves more than 108,000 meals per year.
“We are so grateful to have this most generous gift from our friends at Petaluma Poultry,” said Mike Johnson, COTS CEO. “The meals we provide not only feed the homeless, but they provide food resources for hundreds families, seniors and working poor who are struggling to make ends meet on tight budgets. This donation means that many local parents won’t have to make the decision between paying their rent and feeding their children.” To learn more about COTS, please visit www.cots-homeless.org.
