Thorntown Associates Support United Way of Central Indiana
March 2, 2017
Associates from Perdue Farms’ breeder operation in Thorntown, Ind., recently presented a check for $1,786 in support of the United Way of Central Indiana in Boone County. The contribution included a $162 grant provided by the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms. Perdue employs 82 associates in Thorntown.
“United Way of Central Indiana is grateful for the continued support of Perdue Farms and applauds their commitment to the local communities in which they operate,” said Aaron Gore, area director of United Way of Central Indiana Area Northwest. “Together, we directly impact our neighbors to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency. This is what United Way of Central Indiana has done for nearly 100 years with a focus on improving the education, financial stability, health and basic needs of everyone in our communities.”
The Perdue campaign allowed associates to use a simple payroll deduction process to individually support seven United Way partner agencies in Boone County, including the Lebanon Area Boys and Girls Club, Zionsville Boys and Girls Club, The Arc of Greater Boone County Rehabilitation Center, Boone County Senior Services, Boone County Cancer Society, Witham YMCA and Mental Health America. Associates’ pledges will help fund programs dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals to learn more, earn more and lead healthy and safe lives.
“We are happy to be able to continue to help support the United Way of Central Indiana through our associate pledge campaign and support from the Foundation,” said Mike Maroney, Thorntown operation manager. “We believe in supporting the communities where our associates live and work, and remain committed to assist through this initiative.”
