Salisbury, Md. (Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018) — Perdue Farms’ associates in Salisbury, Md., were the top fund-raising team for the 2017 American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Wicomico County, contributing a record $37,751.
“The ‘Perdue Chicks’ team is a cornerstone of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Wicomico County chapter, which will celebrate its 25th year in 2018,” said Debbie White, senior community development manger for the North East Region of the American Cancer Society. “In the 24-year history of the local chapter, they have raised almost half a million dollars to support our life-saving programs of cancer research and services for patients and their families here on the Eastern Shore and beyond. For that, we are extremely grateful.”
Perdue associates support Relay for Life through four cornerstone fund-raising initiatives throughout the year to include the Shorebird Metric Century bicycle ride, bag bingo, a golf tournament in memory of a former Perdue associate, and the sale of holiday wreaths and plants.
“At Perdue, associates have a long history of support for the American Cancer Society, not only here on the Shore, but elsewhere in the communities throughout the country where our associates live and work,” said Theresa Wright, a co-captain of the Perdue Relay for Life Team. “We’re proud to be a partner with them in the fight against cancer.”
