Perdue, Harry K Foundation, and Food Bank of Delaware Partner to Alleviate Childhood Hunger
Salisbury, Maryland (Thursday, March 26, 2026) — As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to combat childhood hunger in the places where it operates, Perdue Farms joined the Harry K Foundation and the Food Bank of Delaware this week to distribute 871 meal boxes to children and families ahead of the Easter holiday, in partnership with local schools.
The long-standing partnership aligns with the company’s Delivering Hope To Our Neighbors® outreach to improve quality of life and build strong communities where our associates live, work, and raise their children.
“For many of the children we serve, a holiday meal is not guaranteed,” said Harry Keswani, founder of the Harry K Foundation, whose mission is to end childhood hunger in Delaware. “This is about more than food—it’s about showing these kids and their families that their community cares. Partnerships like this with Perdue Farms and the Food Bank of Delaware make that possible.”
The need for initiatives like this in the First State remains significant. According to data from the Food Bank of Delaware, one in six children across the state face hunger, which means nearly 40,000 children may not know where their next meal will come from. Overall, one in eight Delawareans experience food insecurity, underscoring the widespread nature of the challenge.
“This partnership is critical to ensuring that children and families across Delaware have access to nutritious food during the holidays and beyond,” said Cathy Kanefsky, CEO of the Food Bank of Delaware. “With the support of Perdue Farms and the Harry K Foundation, we’re able to reach more families and make a greater impact – one meal at a time.”
Volunteers from Perdue’s Milford operations joined partners to load vehicles with meal boxes, including chicken roasters donated by Perdue, for distribution to schools in Kent and Sussex counties.
“At Perdue Farms, we believe access to nutritious food is fundamental, especially for children,” said Bill See, senior manager of community relations for Perdue Farms. “We are proud to partner with the Harry K Foundation and the Food Bank of Delaware to help ensure families can gather around the table this Easter with dignity and hope. Through our Delivering Hope to Our Neighbors outreach, we remain committed to supporting the communities where we live and work.”
