Our Legacy
In the early 20th century, Arthur and Pearl Perdue established a small poultry business on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The small company grew at a deliberate pace, thanks to Arthur’s belief in hard work, frugality, and commitment to quality. As soon as the couple’s son Frank could hold an egg in his hands, he pitched in to help the family business. In 1939, Frank officially joined the company as its second paid associate and, in the 1950s, took over leadership and steered the company into its next stage of development. Now in our fourth generation of operations, Perdue Farms remains family-owned and proud to call Salisbury, Maryland, home. For more than 100 years, we’ve stayed true to one goal: always striving to be better — together.
Our Associates
As a 106-year-old company, we’ve spent decades creating a space where our associates can thrive and succeed. At Perdue, we’re committed to cultivating a values-driven culture, where everyone strives toward continuous improvement and making a difference in our communities. Our goal is simple: to make Perdue a place where people love to work, feel truly welcomed, and know they are vital to our success.
Farmers and Partners
Perdue Farms began in 1920 with a small poultry business owned by the Perdue family. By the 1950s, we had teamed up with independent family farmers to raise poultry. Today, our network of growers has expanded to include grain farmers, chicken, turkey, and hog farmers, and ranchers, who raise cattle and lambs for our brands. Farmers are our closest business partners, many of whom have been part of our journey for generations. The deep trust we’ve built within the farming community has helped us foster lasting relationships and inspires new generations to join us in our efforts to care for the land and animals we raise.
Animal Care & Welfare
From the beginning, we’ve recognized our responsibility to provide for the welfare of the animals in our care. Our approach to animal care is a journey of continuous improvement, built on a foundation of openness, transparency, and trust. At Perdue, we are committed to collaborating with farmers and ranchers, veterinarians, animal welfare experts, and even our toughest critics to refine and enhance programs. We believe in raising animals in environments where they can express natural behaviors — without confinements, antibiotics (except for illness), growth hormones, or genetic modifications.
