Perdue Farms Awards $75,000 In College Scholarships to Children of Associates and Farmers

SALISBURY, Md., July 22, 2026— Perdue Farms, through the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, has awarded $75,000 in scholarships to children of Perdue associates and independent contract poultry farmers. The scholarships are part of the company’s Delivering Hope To Our Neighbors® initiative focused on improving quality of life and building strong communities. 

Layla Shreve, daughter of Larry and Cynthia Shreve of New Creek, West Virginia, one of 15 students to receive scholarships, will study elementary education at Potomac State College of West Virginia University in Keyser, West Virginia. She plans to become an early childhood educator.

“My goal is to create a classroom environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn,” said Shreve, whose mother, Chrissy, is a pullet producer at Kay-Dawn Farm in New Creek. “I want to be the kind of teacher who not only helps students master their ABCs and numbers, but also teaches kindness, patience, problem-solving and belief in their own potential.”

The Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving partner of Perdue Farms, has awarded scholarships to children of its associates and independent farm family partners annually since 1983.

Other students who received a Perdue Foundation scholarship are:

• Kenley Atkins, daughter of Kevin and Ashley Atkins of King, North Carolina, will pursue a degree in biochemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
• Autumn Burke, daughter of Austin and Jamie Burke of Walnut, Kansas, will pursue a degree in accounting at Pittsburg State University in Kansas.
• Madalyn Carpenter, daughter of Steve and Nichole Carpenter of Wadesboro, North Carolina, will pursue a degree in animal sciences at North Carolina State University at Raleigh.
• Marly Felix, daughter of Jean Mary Felix and Prevena Felix Laguerre of Salisbury, Maryland, will pursue a degree in biology at the University of Maryland, College Park.
• Bella Fullman, daughter of Douglas Fullman and Kara Ratai of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, will pursue a dual degree in finance and mathematics, followed by an MBA at Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania.
• Kate Gasque, daughter of John and Laura Gasque of Dillon, South Carolina, will pursue a degree in agribusiness at Clemson University in South Carolina.
• Alyssa Gerstell, daughter of Charles and Paula Gerstell of Statesville, North Carolina, will pursue a degree in nursing at Mitchell Community College in North Carolina.
• Bailey Guerrero, daughter of Barbie Guerrero of Peraluma, California, will pursue a degree in sports medicine at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
• Noelle Kiger, daughter of Scott and Valerie Kiger of East Bend, North Carolina, will pursue a degree in neuroscience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
• José Márquez Chavez, son of José Márquez Castro of Concord, North Carolina, will pursue a degree in chemical engineering at North Carolina State University at Raleigh.
• Aarav Parikh, son of Arpan Parikh of Franklin Park, New Jersey, will pursue a degree in computer science at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
• Luz Ariadna Ramirez Hernandez, daughter of Cesar Ramirez Negrete and Cecilia Hernandez of Iola, Kansas, will pursue a degree in biology at Allen Community College in Iola.
• Anshul Vasmate, son of Nagaraj Vasmate of Salisbury, Maryland, will pursue a degree in computer engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park.
• Abigail Von Vorst, daughter of James and Michelle Von Vorst of Seaford, Delaware, will pursue a degree in psychology at Regent University in Virginia.
