Perdue Farms Invests $28,000 to Support Year-Round Food Access Through Salvation Army of Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. (October 8, 2026) — The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation has awarded $28,000 to the Salvation Army of Salisbury’s Sustaining Food Access Project to help ensure year-round access to nutritious food for individuals and families facing food insecurity across Wicomico County and Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore. The Salvation Army’s feeding programs serve more than 400 individuals each month, reaching approximately 5,000 people annually.
Funding from the Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms, will support food purchases, pantry operations, and facility improvements designed to improve the safety, efficiency and capacity of the Salvation Army's feeding programs.
“Perdue Farms is a long-standing partner in our mission to serve those most in need across our communities,” said Major Dr. Colin DeVault of the Salvation Army of Salisbury. “This investment will help meet growing demand for food assistance and enhance our ability to serve neighbors safely and efficiently. We are deeply grateful not only for this grant, but for the compassion of Perdue and its associates, who volunteer their time and support our programs throughout the year.”
The Salvation Army of Salisbury provides a wide range of services across the region, including a high-volume food pantry, community food distributions, daily meal programs for youth and seniors, emergency rent and utility assistance, youth development initiatives, and recreational opportunities through the Red Shield Youth Center.
The investment aligns with Perdue’s Delivering Hope To Our Neighbors® outreach, focused on improving quality of life and strengthening communities where Perdue associates live and work, while advancing the company’s purpose to raise a better future.
“Whether it’s helping provide meals to families facing difficult times, volunteering during the annual Red Kettle campaign, or supporting children through the Angel Tree program, our relationship with the Salvation Army in our hometown is built on a shared commitment to caring for our neighbors," said Kim Nechay, executive director of the Perdue Foundation. “Together, we’re helping make sure our neighbors have access to nutritious food and the support they need, not just during times of crisis, but throughout the year.”
