Salisbury, Md. (Monday, October 19, 2015) — As part of its commitment to the community, Perdue Farms, through the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Prince George Volunteer Fire Department to help purchase lockers to store firefighter personal protective equipment. The Foundation is the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms.

“The new lockers will enable us to store personal protective gear in a well-ventilated and secure environment that will extend the life of the equipment and maximizes the health and safety benefits for our volunteer firefighters,” said Tim Nall, Firefighter and Grant Coordinator of the Prince George Volunteer Fire Department. “We’re grateful for the support of Perdue and the Foundation to provide lockers for each of the department’s 30 volunteers.”

The Prince George Volunteer Fire Department responds to more than 500 calls a year in suburban Prince George County, serving some 36,000 residents.

“The Prince George Volunteer Fire Department has been a long-time friend and partner of Perdue Farms,” said Sam Rascona, facility manager at Perdue’s Mid-Atlantic Replenishment Center in Prince George. “With our distribution center and associates located within their service area, we’re honored to provide them the funding to purchase something so tangible and meaningful.”
