Perdue AgriBusiness to reopen former Cargill grain elevator in Vincennes, Ind.

Elevator will be open in time for 2018 harvest

August 7, 2018

Perdue AgriBusiness will purchase and reopen the former Cargill grain elevator in Vincennes, Ind., ensuring farmers the return of an important local grain market in time for this year’s harvest, the two companies announced.

Cargill closed the elevator in July 2017. Perdue will operate the elevator, at 1174 East Ramsey Road, as a leased facility while the sale is finalized. Perdue is undertaking maintenance prior to reopening the elevator in the coming weeks.

“Cargill is pleased to have Perdue take ownership of this facility as we have a long-term relationship with Perdue and are confident Vincennes area farmers will enjoy having the elevator open to them again”, says Don Camden, Cargill Eastern Region Manager.

“Perdue has been part of the local farm community for more than 30 years, and we look forward to building upon that relationship,” said Gary Cordier, senior vice president, domestic grain. “Perdue and Cargill are similar in that we’re both family owned companies that have been serving the agricultural community for decades. We’re excited to expand our presence in the Vincennes area to continue providing excellent and reliable services.” Perdue offers farmers a wide range of merchandising programs, along with risk management.

Farmers wishing to deliver grain to the elevator should contact Perdue AgriBusiness at 812-257-3020 or 812-257-3024.

Perdue’s operations in the area include a feed mill and grain complex and turkey harvest plant in Washington and turkey grow-out operations. Perdue purchases grain from 300 area farmers and 150 farmers in Indiana and Illinois raise turkeys for the company. The company employs close to 900 people in Indiana.
