Salisbury, Md. (Monday, July 2, 2013) — Associates at Perdue Farms’ operations in Cromwell recently presented a check for $7,762.28 to the Relay for Life of Ohio County in support of the American Cancer Society. It was the single largest contribution to this year’s Relay for Life campaign, which raised $36,000.

“The American Cancer Society and the volunteer committee of the Relay For Life of Ohio County are so appreciative of the participation of the Cromwell team from Perdue during this year’s annual event,” said Judy Gargus, area director of the Mid-South Division of the American Cancer Society. “They raised a significant amount of money that will certainly make a difference in the fight against cancer. We appreciate their enthusiasm and willingness to be a part of this community event, and we look forward to their continued participation in 2014!”

Perdue associates conducted a six-week Relay for Life fund-raising campaign at the Cromwell facility, which included cook-outs, bake sales, T-shirt sales, raffles and monetary donations. They also sold “Relay for Life Hope” cupcake cards, which associates purchased and placed on a wall in the Cromwell facility to inspire others to support the campaign. Associates also sold chicken sandwiches and T-shirts at the Relay for Life event on June 14 at Ohio County High School.

“Each department within the facility embraced the campaign and developed their own-fund-raised activity,” said Debbie Gott, Perdue Relay for Life campaign coordinator. “At Perdue, we’re committed to giving back to the local community, and proud to support the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer.”
