Perdue Farms Delivers 38,000 Pounds of Nutritious Chicken to Help Redwood Empire Food Bank Combat Food Insecurity in Northern California

March 13, 2023

Salisbury, Md. (Monday, March 13, 2023) — As part of a commitment to end hunger in its communities, Perdue Farms has donated 38,000 pounds of nutritious chicken products to Redwood Empire Food Bank in Santa Rosa, Calif., to help feed food insecure children, families and seniors.

The donation – the equivalent of more than 30,000 meals – is part of the Perdue’s Delivering Hope to Our Neighbors® outreach to improve quality of life and build strong communities.

For many years, Perdue has been a consistent and generous partner, ensuring that high quality food is at the center of the plate for our neighbors experiencing hunger. We are grateful that they join us in improving the lives of so many of our neighbors in need of help,” said David Goodman, chief executive officer of Redwood Empire Food Bank.

Redwood Empire Food Bank was established in 1987 as a clearinghouse to collect and distribute donated food. Today, it operates more than 300 distributions each month and is the primary food source for 150 other hunger-relief organizations in its northern California serving Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt and De Norte counties.

“Most of us can’t imagine going to bed at night with the pain of an empty stomach. But for too many of our northern California neighbors, that is their reality,” said Bill See, senior manager of community relations for Perdue Farms. “We’re proud to continue our support of Redwood Empire Food Bank and their mission to alleviate the burden on food insecure children, families and seniors.”
