Perdue Farms Hosts Second Annual Companywide Day of Understanding to Foster and Celebrate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

April 28, 2021

Salisbury, Md. (April 28, 2021) — As part of Perdue Farms’ commitment to creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce, the company recently held its second annual Day of Understanding with participation from associates across all locations. Perdue joined 200 companies across the U.S. as part of a national effort organized by CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion.

Held at the Perdue Learning University in Salisbury, Md., where the company has been headquartered for more than a century, this year’s event was broadcast to all associates to facilitate enterprise-wide participation. Throughout the day, Perdue highlighted the ongoing efforts of its five Associate Resource Groups (ARG), hosted panel discussions with guest speakers and live Q&A, and conducted adjacent activities for associates at all Perdue locations.

“The past year has been unprecedented in many ways; a global pandemic, civil unrest, and a controversial election, which has caused division in the United States like never before. Our second Day of Understanding provided a forum to foster dialogue around respectful conversations on gender, race, and inter-generations, among other topics,” said Kathryn Danko, Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Diversity Officer at Perdue Farms. “The interactive activities held throughout the day were meant to help us embrace differences and increase understanding, so we collectively could gain a greater awareness of each other’s diverse and valuable experiences and perspectives. While this annual event shines a spotlight on this topic, these are conversations that we importantly carry on throughout the year.”

Day of Understanding was initiated in 2018 by CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, which includes more than 2000 CEOs in 85 industries and 13 million employees who recognize the need to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace. Perdue Farms’ CEO, Randy Day, is a CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion signatory.
