Cromwell, Ky. (Wednesday, April 16, 2014) — Associates at Perdue Farms’ Cromwell, Ky., operation presented a check for $7,715 to the United Way of Ohio Valley during a recent ceremony at the Perdue facility. The contribution included $7,014 in campaign pledges by associates and a $701 grant funded by the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms.

United Way is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to maximize the communities’ resources to improve the lives of all the members of the community. Through the combination of generous individual and business contributions, the United Way of Ohio Valley is able to support such agencies as the Ohio County Food Bank, Hospice of Ohio County, and the American Red Cross.

The Perdue campaign allowed associates to use a simple payroll deduction process to individually contribute to the United Way. In addition, cash donations were made and T-shirts were sold. Despite tough economic conditions, Perdue associates still managed to dig deep in their pockets to support their local community.

“We are happy to support the United Way of Ohio Valley,” said Terry Price, Cromwell complex human resource manager. “At Perdue, where teamwork is so important to our success, we recognize the importance of neighbors helping neighbors.”

“The dollars donated by Perdue associates and the Arthur Perdue Foundation will be used locally to help impact the citizens of Ohio County,” said Cindy Ferrell, United Way campaign director.
