SALISBURY, Md. (Monday, August 5, 2019) — Perdue Farms, through the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, has awarded $75,000 in scholarships to 15 children of Perdue associates and independent contract farmers.  

The Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms, awarded each student a $5,000 scholarship. The Foundation was established in 1957 by company founder Arthur W. Perdue and is funded through the estates of Arthur W. Perdue and Frank Perdue. The Foundation has awarded scholarships to children of its associates and independent farm family partners every year since 1983.

The children who received scholarships are:  

1. Cora Alderman, daughter of Forrest and Melissa Alderman of Points, W.Va., will attend Davis and Elkins College. She plans to pursue a degree in environmental science.
2. Alyssa Cam, daughter of Touly and Sarah Cam of Sioux Center, Iowa, will attend University of South Dakota to pursue a degree in biology.
3. Taylor Cochran, daughter of Robert and Kellie Cochran of Dobson, N.C., will attend West Virginia University to pursue a degree in engineering.
4. Jenna DeBerardinis, daughter of John “Jay” and Tammy Deberardinis of Salisbury, Md., will attend the University of Maryland, College Park. She will pursue a degree in government and politics.
5. Noelle Dennis, daughter of Kent Dennis of Willards, Md., and Beth Bell of Bishopville, Md., will attend the University of Maryland, College Park. She plans to study architecture.
6. Justine Malenke, daughter of Gary and Laura Malenke of Sioux Center, Iowa, will attend Dordt College to pursue a degree in elementary education.
7. Aidan Miltner, son of Kerri McClimen of Chicago, Ill., will attend University of Southern California to pursue a degree in mathematics.
8. Kelli Moreno, daughter of Terrence “Terry” and Kim Moreno of Hebron, Md., will attend Marywood University to pursue a degree in communication sciences and disorders.
9. Pritika Papali, daughter of Vimal and Bindu Papali of Salisbury, Md., will attend the University of Maryland, College Park. She will pursue a degree in bioengineering.
10. Caroline Roser, daughter of Brenan and Donna Roser of Easton, Md., will perform mission work through The World Race before pursuing a degree in medicine.
11. Makenzie Rush, daughter of Brian and Kimberly Rush of Eden, Md., will attend Salisbury University. She plans to pursue a degree in business management.
12. Brady Smith, son of Holly Rawlinson of Fruitland, Md., and Jonathan Smith of Danville, Ill., will attend McDaniel College where he will play football and pursue a degree in education
13. Hunter Tharpe, son of James “Doug” and Carolyn Tharpe of Harmony N.C., will attend Lenoir-Rhyne University to pursue degrees in education and history.
14. Brendyn Vanderslice, daughter Patrick and Susan Vanderslice of Laurel, Del., will attend Regent University to pursue a degree in psychology.
15. Madison Treiber, daughter of Brian and Terri Treiber of Vermillion, S.D., will attend Morningside College to study social and behavioral sciences.
