Statement on Wage and Benefits Lawsuit Settlements

The following statement on the record is attributable to Andrea Staub, SVP of Corporate Communications:

December 7, 2022

In brief summary, Perdue agreed to settle two lawsuits in Maryland and Colorado brought by private class-action plaintiffs who alleged the company improperly shared wage and benefits information to depress compensation in violation of U.S. antitrust laws. To be clear, we deny these allegations, and Perdue’s record of competitive wages and benefits speaks for itself. As we remain focused on providing high quality protein to families across the country, we felt it would be best to avoid the expense of protracted litigation and put these claims behind us.

For more than a century, and across four generations of Perdue leadership, we’ve put people first. As a legacy, family-owned company operating in an increasingly complex marketplace, we are always striving to do the right thing and we’re proud of what we continue to do to live by our values and support our associates.

Additional Detail:

Perdue takes its obligation to comply with all laws and regulations very seriously, and we work aggressively and diligently to ensure compliance. We believe we succeed. To that end, to modernize our existing policies and practices, including our Code of Ethics and Hotline, we’re creating a Center of Business Ethics and Compliance. We have a national search underway for a Compliance Officer, who will lead this center of excellence and report to our General Counsel.
